SPC as it is known locally is a rather small state college located in Pinellas County. SPC is an acting part of the Florida College System which essentially makes it what some people refer to as a state college or a state school. As part of the state funded academics SPC offers a pretty large selection of 4 year programs/bachelor's degrees. This is slightly different than most other traditional 2yr "community" colleges that mainly focus their programs around associate level degrees. St Petersburg College enrolls roughly 65k students annually and is an accredited institution with the Southern Association of Colleges. Originally a private school that was founded in the year 1927, SPC eventually became a state level institution that has 11 campuses, 4 of which are in St Pete and 7 other in Pinellas County (Largo, Clearwater, Pinellas Park, and Tarpon Springs).

Founded in 1962, Pinellas Technical College has two campuses, one in Clearwater and the other in St. Petersburg. Pinellas Technical College offers an large emphasis on education that focuses on more than 39 technical areas and offers more than 59 different learning paths. The college is home to roughly 5,000 students, most of which attend on a full time basis. Along with the education paths, Pinellas Technical College delivers a wide range of continuing education courses and detailed and specific commercial training which is delivered through an industry specific department.

With many locations throughout the united states, Galen is a rather prestigious and private nursing college. Originally founded in the city of Louisville, Kentucky in 1990 by the large healthcare company Humana. Originally known as Galen Health Institute, it only offered a 1 year LPN program in St Pete and a few other city in the US. Galen earned accreditation from COE in 2005 which allowed the school to begin offering an associates of science 2 year program. This opened the door for an RN program and allow the school to become an official College.

University of South Florida St Pete aka USF St. Pete. USFSP is a accredited separately from the University of South Florida System. USF St Pete is located not to far from Tampa Bay and very close to the lively downtown St Petersburg. This campus offers at least 39 undergraduate and graduate pathways. Their academics stretch from programs in the arts and
sciences field of study to elementary education, business marketing and finance, and accounting too. To many the smaller class sizes are a huge advantage to the students. The educators push and challenge the students to embrace research, teaching and community service. USF St Pete encourages students to get involved with and engage with the community, to apply and take on certain internships and to work directly with the educators on research projects.
